Ginger’s Training Log – 9-23-12

The days keep getting shorter but the running keeps getting better. My easy days were definitely easy and achy, making my body well aware of when its required to work on the harder days. James and I had wedding number four of the season on Friday. Because there were no races the following day, we did partake in some bubbly celebrations this time, which made for a bad night of sleep and a headache the next day. Alas, we survived and sweated out the garbage later that night with a long run together.

Four weddings this year equal how many baby showers two years from now?

Monday: 4 miles easy at night and on the golf course. I was being a baby on the grass, taking a moment to lay down and regroup on the 3rd hole.

Tuesday: 7 miles with a track workout. This track workout was another breakthrough performance for me. I was finally able to break 7 minute miles for mile repeats!

Wednesday: 5 miles easy. Felt pretty good and no laying down for breaks this time.

Thursday: 8.1 miles with a 5 mile tempo @ 7:16 pace. There’s a story with this one and I’ll share it with you all this week.

Friday: Scheduled day off + wedding!

Saturday: 12 mile long run at night so that we could sleep in on Sunday. I recommend going for a long run around 11pm at least once then coming home and grabbing a quick bite to eat before laying down in bed for a restful night of sleep! These types of runs feel like instant rejuvenation!

Sunday: 6 miles @ 8:04 pace. The last two miles were a slow and gradual climb up a hill. I slowed in pace but the effort felt the same. I’m starting to get the hang of these strength runs!

Total: 42.1 miles
