My #Runnerselfie of the week, blowing snot rockets.

Hi there. Enjoying the drama of the Indoor National Championships? Should be very interesting to see how this all pans out. So anyway, I haven’t been doing specific training lately but figured I’d give a little update on how my running is going these days.

I am averaging 4-6 days a week with 20-45 minute runs each time. I am not training for any upcoming races, just running for health and general fitness. I am doing some light lifting 1-2 times a week as well and I’d like to get back into the pool eventually for continued exercise. I miss it! I do miss training hard as well but not enough to make the time and effort commitment. Occasionally, I’ll do a fartlek run or strides just to help the body remember how it feels to run fast. I’m in a good place right now. Although I am over the winter weather here in Ohio. But who isn’t?

Here’s a run down of my week:

Monday: 42 minute run James and our friend Chris after trying ziplining for the first time.

Tuesday: Off

Wednesday: 16 minute quickie run before James went to work. Was going to run again later but opted for a free Denny’s Grand Slam meal for our birthdays (me on the 17th, him on the 19th).

Thursday: 30 minute run on the treadmill watching figure skating.

Friday: 30 minute solo run before work.

Saturday: 24 minute run with James at night.

Sunday: 50 minute run on the treadmill with some fartlek intervals.

Total: 3 hours 12 minutes

I'm a competitive runner and mental health professional. I write about mindfulness, my own experiences with depression and anxiety, and the professional sport of running. I'm currently trying to figure out the marathon while also continuing to race (and enjoy) the shorter distances.
