Monday:  Easy run and cross train

6 mile trail run

1 hour elliptical, arms abs

Tuesday: Speed

11 mile bike ride for fun with my dad

Speed workout: 2 mile warm up, 1200 (4:44), 3 x 400 (1:27, 1:22, 1:25), 1200 (4:47), 3 x 400 (1:35, 1:29, 1:31), 2 mile cool down

This workout was at night.  Since I have a fear of falling in the dark, I slowed on the last set as it got darker.  It was still a good workout and probably best that I don’t go all out right now. I will try to amp it up next week and run in daylight.

Wednesday: Run

6 miles (7:57)

push ups, planks, legs

This was a no frills easy run to get the miles in.

Thursday: Tempo

1 mile warm up, 5 miles (6:40), 2 mile cool down

Great tempo with a friend.  This was my first solid tempo run in awhile.  It was a little rainy but not terrible.

Friday: Off

I did absolutely nothing workout wise but had a busy day so it was ok.

Saturday: Run

6 miles (8:02)

I had planned on running faster but it was raining and I had no motivation.  I added some strides at the end.  Also my watch was off and I had to run at least half a mile extra on my usual course to get the distance.

Sunday: Long run

13 miles (7:14)

This was a great negative split run with some fast people who pushed me.

Total miles: 46

I did not hit the 50 mile mark like I wanted to but I had some good quality runs.  Quality is better than quantity but I will try to do both next week.

 

I am a dedicated runner and classical musician. I am currently chasing a sub-3 hour marathon (3:04 PR) and a sub-19 5k (19:02! PR). I often feel like the underdog going up against "serious" runners-I took up running after college, I do not have a typical "runner's body type", and I am mostly self-coached. I travel a lot to perform with different orchestras and run when I can, where I can. I love to (over) eat and that is my number one motivation for running! Follow me as I chase my goals!
