My last training log left off with a fantastic 20-miler followed by a good marathon pace tempo run and then some not-so-subtle foreshadowing of illness. So let’s get the weekly summary out of the way because this one isย boring:
Monday-Saturday: Wow, it’s so efficient to write a log when every day is ZERO miles. Otherwise, spent as much time as possible in bed. Drank a lot of water. Took a trip to the emergency room as a climax to the week. Not recommended.
Sunday: 5 miles/43:48
Total: 5 miles
So, even if you’ve never commented on a post here before, be kind and give me a little love and tell me that I can still meet my marathon goal in Columbus in 21 days. I’m going for it anyway.
Hope you feel better! Sorry to hear it was a rough week, but you are more than ready. You’re just getting all of the crap out of your system now in plenty of time for the marathon!
Thanks! After a rough race at Minster, I’m feeling back to almost full strength.
You can still do it! While your system was somewhat taxed by the illness, your body still got some rest which probably will help you. Now peak and taper smart, trust your training.
Thanks – that makes so much sense.
You know where the hay is, right? You can do it. You now have two weeks to sharpen and recover so you hit the line feeling great. I believe in you!
Finally feeling normal again! Thanks for the encouragement!
Feel better Catnip! You put in some great training already, so if you let yourself recover I’m sure you will still hit your goal. Good luck!
“LET yourself recover” — words of wisdom — I needed to hear that! After years of working against a bit of natural “slacker-ness” I’m trying to find the balance between working hard and being kind to my body.
