Catnip’s running log – week ending 6/1/2014

Two 5ks this week with some good runs sandwiched in the middle. Look for a triple 5k race report from me soon, but for now here’s a quick rundown of the week:

Monday: Lou Cox 5k in 18:17 (postpartum PR), 9.1 miles total. 7th place.

Tuesday: 7 miles/1:02:11. Squeezed this run in late in the evening. Was dreading the treadmill and was almost hoping the baby would get hungry so I could stop to snuggle instead. Started feeling good after about 3 miles.

Wednesday: 6.3 miles/56:00, half of that with Scott. Then 3.3/30:00 on the treadmill in the evening.

Thursday: 4.2 miles/34:00. Planned to do 7, but JBย got hungry. Ran miles 2 & 4 at 6:40 pace. In the evening 3.6 miles/31:00 while Patrick, his mom, & JBย picked up Chipotle.

Friday: 6.5 miles/55:50. Legs felt very fresh!

Saturday: 4.5 miles/39:00 on dirt trails with my dad. 4x strides.

Sunday: Dexter-Ann Arbor 5k in 18:45, 4.5 miles total.

Weekly total: 50 miles.

I'm a 20-year veteran of competitive running, USATF certified coach, mom of a toddler -- and still trying to set PRs. I write about training from 5k to marathon, motherhood and competitive running, and the elite side of the sport. The 5k is my favorite race (16:56 PR) but I've got a score to settle with the marathon.
