Happy Thanksgiving, Salties! Even though I am still new to SR, I am so thankful for my Salty family. Seriously, these ladies are the best. They are kind, hilarious, sharp, and tenacious! We may communicate virtually, but they are a joy to be “around” and they make me cry from laughter daily! You should see our behind-the-scenes conversations. Okay, okay, enough with the sap. Here’s the work I did this week! I’m nursing a new foot injury from two weeks ago, and I am going to see a doc this week for sure! This past week I used a free week-long pass to LifeTime Fitness. I did a lot of cycling because of my foot! My strategy for cross training was to estimate my usual mileage, calculate how long that usually takes me to run, and then bike for that amount of time.
Monday – 10 miles, bike, 45 minutes. I did a “hill program” on the bike. Strength training, arms. I graduated from 3-lb to 5-lb weights this week! LOL
Tuesday – 8.7 miles, bike, 36 minutes.
Wednesday – Rest
Thursday – Happy Planksgiving!
Besides planking with my nephew on my back, I did an easy 3 mile run along the river. I had some bad pain in my foot but maintained a 9:15 pace.
Friday – Rest. Foot was a mess.
Saturday – 5k
Yes, I raced a 5k on this disaster foot. It is a race in my hometown in the foothills of Appalachia, and I can easily say that this is the hardest course I run every year. The terrain is rolling. You’re either running up or downhill. There is no flat stretch! I started like a bat out of hell, and mile 1 clocked in at 7:18. That pace ended quickly as the second and hardest climb approached at the tail end of the first mile. There were two small hills after that and a third gigantic one during which my pace slowed to 10:15. My finishing time was 26:14, and I was the fifth female finisher. I placed 2nd in my age group. I’ll take it!
Sunday – Rest. I currently have a sexy limp. 😉
Total – 18.7 miles cycled. 6.1 miles run.
