Barberry Training Log 8/6 – 8/12

All I wanted this week was to just get moving normally again! Being away, (especially when it involves working and not relaxing!) even for a few days, really can throw off my system! I was so exhausted at the beginning of the week. I just had to get through those first few days! Baby continues to flutter around. I tried out my support belt for my pelvis again this week during my runs. I think I got it in a better location, as there was less pressure on my bladder this time! I still think I might need a little more belly to feel the full effects of the belt. That being said, baby has really been popping out in the last week or two. I am starting to look a little more pregnant versus just looking like I had extra helpings at Thanksgiving.

8/6 – This was a long day at work. After dinner, I just needed to get outside and get moving! I convinced my husband to go out on a walk with me around the neighborhood. We did a little over a mile and a half. It was nice to be outside and spend some time with him! I missed him while I was away!

8/7 – A busy day at work, no rest for the weary. However, I did have something to look forward to at the end of the day! It was Two-Dollar Tuesday at the Indiana State Fair! This means admission and certain foods are, in fact, two dollars! A pregnant ladies dream! We went after work and headed to the dairy barn right away. I had a coupon for a free milkshake and grilled cheese from there … so of course, I had to take advantage of that! It had been raining and storming earlier in the day, but it stayed away for the most part. There were a few sprinkles here and there. I returned home full and satisfied.

8/8 – Yay! A run! I went for an early morning run with my friend, Danielle. It was a little dark when we started, so thankfully we did not trip on anything! We did 4 miles at 11:35 min/mi pace with walk breaks. It got my GI tract moving, for sure. I needed that. After running, I went to the Rec Center and did some of my lifting. I did either 2 sets of 12 or 2 sets of 15 repetitions of reverse lunges, lunges, deadlifts, rows, squats, clamshells, etc. I have been trying to do lighter weights and higher repetitions. I felt it going down the stairs a little bit later!

8/9 – So my husband and I decided to watch the series GLOW on Netflix. Let’s just say, we finished the first season by the weekend. Netflix marathon, no actual running today.

8/10 – Slept about 10 minutes longer than I wanted to this morning, so it shortened my pre-work run just a little bit. Ran 2.54 miles at 11:02 min/mi pace with walk breaks. This run also felt tough today, my legs still felt a little tired from Wednesday, I guess. I made it through.

8/11 – For today’s run, I decided to change things up and walk for longer intervals after each mile. All in all, I ran about 0.9 miles out of every mile and walked the other 0.1. It worked out pretty well and I felt better rested during the actual run intervals. I did 5 miles total at 10:54 min/pace. Even though my pace still slows, I am happy to still be doing actually running for about 90% of my runs at 22 weeks. I am still hoping to go as long as I can. I do find myself looking forward to these walk breaks more and more! Haha 🙂

8/12 – I did some gentle prenatal yoga today and took a nap. I am loving my body pillow, it is making this whole napping thing so very appealing.

Thanks for tuning in for another week, gang! I know my training log is not super thrilling at this point! We have a fun 5K planned for the end of this upcoming week. I have been told there is frozen yogurt at the end. Hoping to utilize this whole pregnancy thing to maybe get a larger serving 😉
