I did a few short runs this week, but kept the mileage (very) low. My plan is to continue to incorporate more cross training in hopes to keep this heel pain flare up at bay. I’ve been doing some short continuous runs and also doing some run/walk intervals. Really, as far as running goes, my workouts have gotten pretty boring. Not to me! I’m happy to be running, I’m just sure they aren’t entertaining to read about!
5/14 – Rest day. I took a 10 minute walk break during my lunch at work. It has been nice and warm outside here. It’s good to get outside of the building periodically!
5/15 – Today was the Taco Run 5K! I can think of few things I love more than running and tacos! The race took place in the town of Speedway – home to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway! There are few places more exciting than this area in the month of May, so the atmosphere was fun, too! It was fun to have a mid-week race to look forward to and change up the routine. I ran the 5K at a 9:08 min/mi pace. This was actually my first run back after the Mini Marathon. It was a warm night, as well! My hubby finished second in his age group. We decided to go ahead and get our tacos fairly quickly after the run. It was a good thing we did! I had friends who waited in line for 45 minutes – 1 hour to get their tacos! Holy cow! I would not have wanted to stand in line hungry that long after running! It turned out to be a nice night and we had a lot of fun!
5/16 – Ran 2.5 miles at a 10:45 min/mi pace doing a run/walk with my running buddy, Danielle. After this, we did some yoga. It felt good to get my calf muscles stretched out really well. I definitely need to be better about this!
5/17 – No running, but did do a short walk during my lunch break again.
5/18 – Easy run/walk in the morning before work. With walk intervals, I did a 30 minute workout at 11:27 min/mi pace. Still trying to ease back into running and trying to be smart with my heel.
5/19 – No running today – watched Mr. Barberry play in his high school alumni soccer game!
5/20 – Nice bike ride around 10. Rode about 10.5 miles around the parks in town. It was warm, but I caught some breeze as I rode through town. I’ve been enjoying the biking, as it is something different for my routine. And I feel like I get a good workout, especially going up hills :)
This upcoming week is busy at work and with some other commitments. I am looking forward to the long Memorial day weekend!
