This has been a tough running week for me. I’ve been battling some pretty rough fatigue all week and have had to talk myself into running/exercising most of the time this week. Sadly, my husband’s grandma also passed away this week and I had to rearrange a few activities to some different times. It wasn’t unexpected, but it is never easy when a life comes to an end. She had a beautiful service and it was nice to see some member’s of my husband’s family that we do not get to see often. So here it is … my sluggish training log for the week.
4/16 – Rest day. A long day of work usually makes it difficult to get exercise in at the end of the day. This week, even more so. All I want to do is nap or sit on the couch. Then when it is time to go to bed, I have to force myself up off the couch! Quite the dilemma.
4/17 – 2 mile walk on the treadmill to keep moving. This is where I can catch up on all the performances on The Voice ;)
4/18 – 5.7 miles (10:12 pace) running with 2 of my running buddies! It was a pretty nice morning (a little cool) and running with them was a big mental boost for me! So was the sunshine! It’s finally starting to get more spring-like! I also did a toning class with my friend Danielle. We worked on a lot of chest, core, and arms.
4/19 – Rest day!
4/20 – Man, it was hard to get motivated for this one. 3 miles in the morning before work at 10:35 min/mi pace. When my fatigue is bad, this pace felt like a lot of work. It was beautiful outside, so I tried to focus on that and remember that I am fortunate to have strong legs to push me forward.
4/21 – Today was my husband’s grandma’s funeral. We spent the day celebrating her life, being around family, and eventually, traveling back home.
4/22 – Warning! Today’s log may include a healthy dose of TMI! Problem #1: I was not motivated to get a run in earlier in the morning, so I postponed it until the afternoon. Problem #2 Afternoon runs aren’t always easy on my intestines. Oh man. I decided to do some run/walk intervals to get out of my motivational slump. It worked pretty well, and I was cruising along at a comfortable pace … until about mile 2. Then all intestinal hell broke loose. I could feel my abdominals distend, cramping starting to occur … things were churning. Oh my … there is a bathroom about half a mile away. I think I can make it. It wasn’t so bad. Nope. It is bad. Holy cow. I am clinching everywhere. It is in my sights. I see a lady who appears to be walking to the bathroom from the other end of the parking lot. I can beat her. Hoosier hospitality must lose today, I am literally about to crap my pants. Somehow I make it there first, and my pants are unscathed. I feel so much better after this. I continued my run/walk intervals. 8 miles done at 10:47 min/mi pace.
So, I’m hoping for some energy returning this week! The 500 Festival Mini Marathon is coming up! I am excited to have some fun and enjoy the race! My running schedule will be a little altered this week since I am going to be out of town for a friend’s bachelorette party! It should make for an interesting week!
