5 Christmas Carols, Runner-Style

Friday 5I suspect many of you feel the same way that I do – that the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas has just flown by this year. (Like eight tiny reindeer, perhaps?) And with less time, to do lists that seem to be growing by the hour and less than ideal running weather, it can be easy to find yourself being a little bit Grinchy about the whole holiday shebang.

Alas, if you’re feeling as cuddly as a cactus about Christmas, we have just the thing to help you appreciate the most wonderful time of the year: 5 Christmas Carols, runner-fied. ‘Tis the season, y’all!

1. Let It Snow

Oh, the weather outside is frightful
But my treadmill is so delightful
And since I’ve got my favorite show
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
Oh, it doesn’t show signs of stopping
But I’ve got some intervals a’ popping
Miles are flying faster than I know
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

2. Santa Baby

Santa baby, slip a Garmin under the tree, for me
I’ve been an awful good girl
Santa baby, and hurry down the chimney tonight
Santa baby, a race registration, too – times two
I’ll wait up for you dear
Santa baby, and hurry down the chimney tonight

3. Have Yourself a Very Merry Long Run

Have yourself a very merry long run
Let the roads be dry
From now on your race worries will bid goodbye

Have yourself a very merry long run
Make the miles click away
From now on your race worries will melt away

4. Runnin’ Around the Indoor Track

Runnin’ around the indoor track
It’s only 20 laps a mile
Runnin’ around the indoor track
Runnin’ circles for a while

Runnin’ around the indoor track
You may start to lose your count
Runnin’ around the indoor track
This ring’s gonna make you shout

You will get a very dizzy feeling, when you stop
Lungs are burning, you’ll be hurling, deck the lanes with kitty litter.

5. Hairy Runner Guy

Run they told me
Pa run pa run run
Take off your shirt, they said
Pa run pa run run

But then they laughed at me
Pa run pa run run
Said I should shave my back
Pa run pa run run

Now it’s your turn – got any run-spired lyrics to add to our Christmas carol lineup?
