For better or worse running has a HUGE impact on my overall mood, but that is a post for another day. Most of the time, I run a good deal – so for the majority of the time I’m sporting a pretty great mood. But throw in two rest days IN ONE WEEK, amidst the current situation in this country and I was an absolute wreck.
Moving on, the week that was:
Monday 1/23: Off. Feeling surprisingly good considering yesterday’s 20.
Tuesday 1/24: (am) 9.5mi easy.
(pm) Strength and 30min pool run.
Wednesday 1/25: (am) 9mi @ 7:20 followed by 60min trip to The Recovery Room for ice bath and Normatec boots.
(pm) 4 @ 7:40
Thursday 1/26: (am) Probably the best workout I’ve had. Ever. 3mi warm up + 3mi cool down. 4miles @ 5:57, 3min rest, 2mi @ 5:57, 2min rest, 2mi @ 6:03. I was thrilled with how the earlier portions of this workout felt, I was pretty tapped out by the last set!
(pm) 3mi shake out and physical therapy.
Friday 1/27: (am) 10miles @ 7:20. 60mins at The Recovery Room.
Saturday 1/28: (am) 10miles with a bunch of friends followed by an amazing brunch spread 🙂
Sunday 1/29: Off. Now Monday I was ok with … this was just the nail in the coffin.
Pool run: 30mins
+ 2 active recovery sessions
Why the two rest days? The past three weeks I’ve averaged 80ish miles per week, which I’ve never done. I was also feeling fantastic, which for me (and moreso coach) is a sign that I need to be backed off given my proneness for stress fractures. Now I
bitch write all this down I feel super lame, Thursday’s WO was pretty fantastic and coming off the previous weeks 20miler feeling good were both good indications of my current fitness. But for now … back to milage 🙂
