Back to work! By that, I mean my two week break is over just in time for my real job to wind down for a holiday break. Yep, I planned that well.
Usually I feel a little awkward and slow after taking some time off, but these first few runs felt surprisingly smooth and even sort of quick. I know that you don’t really lose as much fitness as you fear during a break, but I suspect I didn’t lose much at all, even with most of November consisting of very little running.
For now, I’m just trying to build the mileage and add in some light workouts so I’m fit enough to make it worth my time to run a few indoor meets in January and February. I’ll talk more about my main spring goals later because I haven’t quite nailed them down yet!
Week ending 12.20:
Monday: 0. Sick baby. :(
Tuesday: 4.7 miles @ 8:31 pace on the treadmill, then 5 minute inclined walk.
Wednesday: approximately 5 miles @ 8:24 average with JB in the stroller.
Thursday: 6 @ 8:26
Friday: 3.1 @ 8:55 after waking up super early (not by choice)
Saturday: 5 @ 9:00 with a friend, then breakfast!
Sunday: 7 @ 8:24 solo
total = 30.8 miles
Week ending 12.27:
Monday: 7.2 @ 8:20 after a terrible day. Got on the treadmill at 8 pm committing to try just a mile ad quit if I just needed to rest, but ended up feeling much better once I got my body moving.
Tuesday: 7.5 @ 8:19
Wednesday: 7 @ 7:30 average overall, including 25 minutes tempo averaging 6:45 and feeling too easy (?!). I only stopped the tempo at that point because I needed to use the bathroom.
Thursday: 4.2 @ 7:58 after working just a half day. Wore shorts and short sleeves and enjoyed the sunshine!
Friday: 9.4 @ 8:24 in the afternoon after morning Christmas festivities. Wore shorts again!
Saturday: 8 @ 8:22 on trails in a cold rain. Still enjoyed it!
Sunday: 7.5 @ 8:24 on trails again
total = 50.8 miles
