Operation just run continues. This was the first week of our new schedule with 2 kids in school and my 2 year-old and me with the whole day ahead of us! On Monday I took the day off of running to host a play date, which means I spent the time I would have run frantically cleaning, socializing and then laying around pooped! It was fun! But I managed to run every other day of the week. Go me! My little one had a cold, though, for most of the week so there were more than usual stroller miles. I like putting a sick kid in a stroller for some relaxation, fresh air and maybe an extra nap. While she transferred the cold to me by the end of the week, it was generally a success!
You might notice I haven’t been strength training. Hard strength training days were making me feel terrible after! I’d feel fuzzy-headed, fatigued and achy for 2-3 days afterwards. I think my body really needs a break from all super-hard workouts, running or otherwise, for a while. So, for now I’m going to skip it and when I do reintroduce strength work, I’m going to try to go lighter on it at first!
Tue: Planned stroller run of 6 miles. We spied a really big for Ohio snail on the trail and later a newt! My 2 year old talked about the new going home to the water for miles. This is why stroller runs are worth the hassle! Followed up the run with a 2 year-old requested swim at the Y.
Wed: 7.5 stroller miles in the rain while little sicky slept.
Thu: 6 more quick stroller miles before heading to the horrible big box store for our soccer team’s post-game snack.
Fri: 7 with my friend Julie. Man I love these midweek kid-free runs with my buddy!
Sat: Early morning miles with Mina (we should turn this into a tv show with a name like that!) I felt kinda dizzy and weird for the first few miles but I think it was just the beginning of the cold. Rallied and finished almost 10 before having to rush home early for our soccer game.
Sun: 10 with my long lost medical student pal, Marisa, which capped off a stellar three days of girl miles! Missed her and it was great to catch up, although that little cold still was making me feel kinda off and I whined about stuff the whole time. Basically I was that stereotypical annoying running buddy, but good running buddy’s love you anyway even after you’re annoying … right?!
Total: 46 miles. While this isn’t quite the 50 I was targeting at the beginning of the month, it’s good enough for me right now. I’ll take it!
