I’m trying to be conservative with my postpartum comeback so after 3 weeks of 60 miles each, objectively I knew it was time for a cutback. Sometimes it’s hard to take the mileage down when things are going well, but a headache and the (figuratively) magnetic couch/baby combo helped out in that regard – ha!
Monday: Developed a headache partway through the workday that just got worse. Took ibuprofen when I got home and just relaxed.
Tuesday: Just didn’t feel like running!
Wednesday: 8.6 miles/60:12. Ran 10 minutes warm-up, then alternated 5:00 intervals at 8.8 mph (6:49 pace, goal marathon pace…ish) with 5:00 at 9.5 mph (6:17 pace). Loved this workout! Unfortunately, it was marred by a couple much-needed bathroom breaks, but I felt strong through 45 minutes of these alternating paces.
Thursday: 3.1 miles/28:50 morning, 5.3/46:45 evening. JB slept really well, so I felt great. Looking forward to a 3-day weekend didn’t hurt, either.
Friday: 16ish miles/2:20 on hilly trails. YAY for a day off work! Felt great until the last 30 minutes – should have taken another gel.
Saturday: 8 miles/1:05:10. Quick pace for me, especially the day after a long run! Felt great.
Sunday: 6ish miles/55:00 on hilly trails with a friend. Managed to talk about everything. Also saw an owl!
Total: 47 miles.
