Last week got away from me before I could get a log up. I’m actually feeling a lot better (I realized I was depressed and wrote about it in my log a couple of weeks ago). I had an appointment with my therapist, who I hadn’t seen since my last maintenance appointment a year ago, and it was really nice to relax and talk about stuff other than the kids. Of course, I talked about them some, but it wasn’t about the kids. She gave me the homework of listening to more music and to be careful to keep my self-talk positive. I did both things and it really helped. When I’m struggling, putting on a little music really helps! And when I’m not dogging myself for silly things like leaving my socks on the other side of the room, well, that helps too!
I handled more weekend bad weather better too. Instead of crying because my group run plans for foiled by yet another blizzard, I happily accepted the situation and hit the basement mill for 12. This past week a blizzard almost ruined my group plans, but I bundled up and made it out. The roads were really gross and hard to run on. I had to cut it short because my old butt injury was hurting, and I almost dogged myself for wussing out, but I held it together and let myself stay within a reasonable boundary – I’m not doing anything that will unnecessarily risk reinjury as I build back my base. And that’s final. So instead of 12-13, I stopped at 10 slippery and cold miles. They were great girl miles with new and old friends, so I really can’t complain!
Now, for those of you who are in a depression, feeling the blues or just want me to keep it real, I am still not 100%. It’s a struggle, some moments more than others. However, I feel like I’m back on top of it and managing it again. And I think spring and a few more therapy sessions will take care of the rest :)

Week ending 2/2/14
M – off. My son and I were both sick.
T – 7 on the Y tm. Low- 8s.
W – off for baby’s gym and swim.
Th – 8 on the Y tm. Low 8s again. No workout this week. Still feeling cruddy.
F – 8 on the Y tm. Low 8s. I’m seeing a pattern.
Sa – 8 hilly miles around the park with no watch.
Su – 12 on the treadmill averaging 7:55 – First 3 averaged over 8:30 and last 9 were closer to 7:30.
Week ending 2/9/14
M – 8 on the Y tm averaging about 8:10
T – A quick 5 at the Y before parent teacher conferences around 8:00 pace.
W – Off for baby’s gym and swim class.
Th – 8 with 7 mile treadmill progression, steadily going from 9:00 pace for the first mile to 6:50 pace for the last mile.
F – 8 on the T tm averaging about 8:10
Sa – Awesome cold 8 with no watch and my buddy NC.
Su – 10 with the girls in the snow. No watch. No idea on pace. Still operating under “don’t ask – don’t tell” when it comes to outside paces!
