It’s time for the very first Comment of the Week award for 2014. I, for one, am excited for what the new year holds for all of us, but especially my Salty sisters! We’re continuing to grow Salty Running and, as we mentioned in our State of Salty Running post, we want your input. Our goal is to be a place where women who are serious about their running can feel comfortable talking among themselves and sharing information and support for one another. If you have suggestions, critiques, ideas or more, we want to hear from you!
Our winner of the illustrious Comment of the Week award gave us her feedback this week and we loved what she had to say! To see who the winner is, follow the break…The winner is Marcie, whose comment on the State of Salty Running post was thoughtful and showed the spirit of a woman who runs just like the rest of us:
I am *very* new to running, and I have already found a welcome safe place. It’s tough for people who are new, and also older, and female to get into something like running which can be so competitive.
I also love this place because while it’s obviously for running (athletics) and women: it ISN’T what a ton of other fitness publications for women are about: looking HAWT… oh and here is also a side of athletics.
Bottom line: running is scary (it is… really it is) you make it feel safer.
I also love how accessible you are. Salty answered an email of mine about being new, older and overcoming a TON of injuries. That gave me a big push to keep going.
BTW Salty you asked in your email to keep you posted: In all this ice I’ve decided to walk a TON, running is for the spring, summer and fall months for time being. I’ve read that book you suggested (Anatomy for Runners) and it was great. My goal for this year: 3Million steps… stretch goal is 4 million. That is a lot of activity for me. I continue to be excited to some day call myself a runner.
When we contacted Marcie to let her know she’d won, here’s what she had to say:
I’m a 38 year old desk jockey, married mother of two. I HATED running the first time I tried it well over 10 years ago. I tried it again this summer and fell in love. You can find me in Ottawa, Canada, watching the ice and debating getting a treadmill.
Brrr… I know if I lived in Canada, I’d be the first person on the treadmill train. (In fact, I’m saving up for one now to survive another North Dakota winter)!
Thank you to everyone who stopped by and left a comment this week! Enjoy your weekend!
