Hey y’all! After 24 straight hours of travel (and no sleep), I am finally back! Unbeknownst to me, winter arrived while I was in Europe, and the high temperature today is -6. Guess my training will most definitely be inside starting Monday.
Although I did virtually no running on vacation (10 whole days) I do have some unreported mileage from the week before, worthy of some training log attention.
Week of 11/10:
Sunday: 6 rotten miserable outdoor miles. I think there were tough from the 16 mile outdoor run the day before.
Monday: 12 treadmill miles. I watched HGTV and these miles flew by. There is something to be said about Food Network and HGTV during the holidays. It just feels so… festive.
Tuesday: 6 miles, on the indoor track (48 laps!). Yuck. Hate the indoor track more than anything ever.
Thursday: Before my flight left for Paris, I got in 8 quick miles, outside! The temps were in the 30’s and the fog kept the wind down. I donned shorts and gloried in the run. These miles went quick, 7 in less than an hour!
Friday-Saturday: Travel and sightseeing.
Weekly total: 32 miles!
Week of 10/17:
Sunday: 2 miles at Versailles. Does life get any better than this?
Thursday: 1 mile in the Tuileries Garden
Saturday: 24 straight hours of travel back to the
Arctic North Dakota
Weekly total: 3 miles
Now that I’m back in the GFK, it’s time to start training in earnest for my first 50-miler. I’m doing the Zumbo Midnight 50-miler in April and I’m ready for some serious training (and have some extra vacation calories to burn). I’ll write a post soon about my training plans for the 50-miler as well as the next three marathons I’m doing (don’t worry, Salties, two of them are for training purposes only).
