Mom to three little ones: a fiery five year old son; a feisty three year old daughter; and the cutest red headed one year old little girl ever. Lawyer on extended "holiday." Competitive runner. Salty Running boss.

6 months means I get to eat and mommy gets to get back to the track!

Sometimes even the boss needs a break. The demands of three kids and other life stuff got on top of me and I needed a little vacation from Salty stuff. Sorry I’ve been m.i.a. with the training logs. I missed one and then thought I’d catch up the next week and then missed another and now it’s been over a month since I last posted a log. EEK!

In that time, I inched one year closer to becoming a master (38!), paced my friend Joanne to her first ever sub-1:40 half, son finished his first year of preschool and baby turned 6 months!

My son beaming on his last day of preschool! (Yes, that's a fire truck. It pays to have the fire chief's daughter in your class!)

Last night I went to my first track workout in a long time. It felt great to be back. I felt uncoordinated and slow, but I expected that. I’ve done this twice before and know now is the time to focus on the fact that the fitness will come fast! At this point in a comeback, each week brings noticeable fitness gains so it’s fun to see such marked improvement from week to week. I accept I’m out of shape and am committed to enjoying the process of getting back to where I left off and faster!

And of course, the moment I stop taking weekly photos of my chub, it starts to disappear. I am down 5 pounds since my last log – 135 baby! I am about 1 lb over where I was when I got pregnant and now 8 pounds from where I tend to hang when I’m in the middle of training. While I still feel heavier than I’d like, I am confident I’ll be back to where I want to be soon. As close as I am, I still firmly believe it’s not worth forcing the weight loss: it will happen naturally on its own in due time.

About a month post-partum.

Yesterday, about 12 pounds lighter.

Yesterday, about 12 pounds lighter and proof that patience and consistency pay off!

Yay for the weight loss, congratulations. One of my friends had a baby last year and her ‘achievement of the year’ was losing the baby weight. It’s hard work!
