One week until the Eugene Marathon! My foot is feeling much better, and I followed doctor’s orders to not run until Saturday. The time off from running and the down time from everything else has really helped me to realize that I do enjoy training and pushing myself. I was starting to feel a little overwhelmed, but I think some of that stress was self-inflicted. The past several days have made me realize that I really enjoy this stuff and am looking forward to more training and races!
Sunday: Lucy’s first 5K at the Canine Classic in Boulder. She made it almost 2 miles. My hubby jogged with her, and I walked/easy jogged with her. It was a fun event, and she did really well with all of the other dogs around. I’m looking forward to taking her to more charity events like this one. (This one benefitted victims of domestic violence). Later that day, I swam 1,250 and lifted a little.
Monday: Bike trainer for an hour; elliptical in the evening. All of the TVs in the gym showed nothing bu Boston coverage. It was a very dark day.
Tuesday: Bike trainer workout; weights/core in the evening.
Wednesday: And yet another hour in the trainer. Weights/core in the evening and 30 minutes of walking on the treadmill.
Thursday: Rest. This was a wonderful day for my mental sanity and just to rest my body. Never once did I feel guilty for taking rest, but felt grateful that I controlled this decision.
Friday: 1,700 yards; weights/core in the afternoon.
Saturday: Beautiful ride of 34 miles. Run test in the afternoon; my doctor wanted me to run on grass, so we went to the park, where I could run loops on the soccer fields. The grass was wet from the melted snow, and it had a lot of divots. I took it slow. Lucy and my hubby went for a walk, but then she jogged with me for the last 1/2 mile. No pain or issues to report, but I am still going to take it easy until the marathon.
