I hate the daylight savings weekend. The hour I lost was for sleep, so I am really pooped. Forgive me if it shows in my writing!
Baby is 14 weeks old. She is getting big and extra adorable. I took her grocery shopping with me today and put her in the baby bjorn facing out. She loved watching all the activity! She still hasn’t rolled over yet, even with her brother and sister cheering her on. The big kids are more interested in her now that she’s interacting more. It’s sweet, but occasionally hazardous, so it’s been keeping me on my toes.
As for myself, it was a very big week. I went to my follow-up with the heart doctor to see how everything is going in the ol’ ticker department.
Since I had the procedure (catheter ablation) to correct my heart condition (supraventricular tachycardia), I have had lots of palpitations. These palpitations were pretty intense and frequent at first and have slowly been lightening up. Nevertheless, I was still worried they indicated something wasn’t right. Thankfully, my doctor assured me the palpitations were all normal. They occurred because my heart was irritated by the procedure and will continue to lessen over the next week weeks, but I might still have them from time to time. He also told me that the anxiety I had in the days after the procedure was likely caused by morphine and valium withdrawal! WHAT? I had no idea I was so doped up. No wonder I felt so great in the hospital! Ha!
Anyway, he explained away everything I was worried about, which made me happy. But what made me happiest of all was that he said I was now cured. AND I have zero restrictions. HELLO training and racing! WOOHOO! I am so excited!
The only thing putting a damper on my excitement was the nasty cold I was socked with this week. It started on Tuesday, but my run went fine. Then Wednesday I did my first little tempo and was ok. Thursday, was rough, but I made it after I slowed down a little. I got on the treadmill on Friday and got off 10:00 later with burning lungs. I felt terrible. I was coughing up all kinds of crud through Saturday, but felt worlds better by the evening. It’s still lingering, but I was good to go for my girl’s semi-annual pancake long run on Sunday and it was great!
As for my body (the one 4th from the left in the above photo), I am not only stuck, I gained a pound! I weighed 146 earlier this week. Grrrrrrreat. I really feel more fit. My clothes are fitting a little better. Maybe it’s the fat getting ready to finally start leaving? Please?
And with that, here’s what my running looked like this week.
Tue: 8 on the treadmill averaging 8:46
Wed: 8 averaging 8:12 pace, with 4 mile tempo in 30:58 (7:45 pace)
Thu: 7 on the treadmill averaging 9:04
Fri: 1.1 miles on the treadmill in 10:00. Lungs burned!
Sat: off. Still sick. It was really nice outside and I was tempted, but encouraged my hubby to get in his own 6 miler instead.
Sun: 12 at 7:59! Woot!
