My littlest babe is 3 months! 3 MONTHS! It sounds so mature. She’s working really hard to roll over. She hasn’t made it all the way yet, but she’s getting close. She’s now consistently sleeping for 7 – 8 hours at a time. Wow, is that nice!

This week, particularly the end was a bit trying with all three kids sick. They all have some nasty cold. Luckily, the baby seems to have the mildest case, just a stuffy nose. The big kids are cranky, tired, snotty and running around with a gnarly sounding croupy cough. My husband had to work yesterday and I am still pooped from managing them. Now I’m feeling sick. Such is life with preschooler/toddlers.

Running continues to rock, though, so that’s the end of the complaining!

My midweek runs are now consistently at least an hour. I’ve been running 7 or 8 miles during nap time and the kids have been cooperating. Baby sleeps in the swing next to the treadmill and the big kids sleep in their rooms. Sometimes they wake up before I’m done, but if they do they come down to the basement and sweetly hang out and play while I finish up. Then I get a glass of water and hang out with them watching PBS cartoons while I stretch. The baby usually wakes up shortly after the treadmill stops and rolls around on the blanket next to me. It’s great and will be something I will always fondly look back on when my kids are old, sassy and want nothing to do with me.

My paces for the most part are slowly coming down. Last week I did a hilly 12 miles averaging 8:30 pace and then this week I did a slightly less hilly 12 averaging 8:14 pace. Along with my weekday runs, my overall mileage has increased to 50 miles this week. Gotta say, that feels so good to say! It’s been a long time since I could say that. I do have to say it amazes me how beat down and out of shape I feel after pregnancy. I ran 50 mile weeks while pregnant and they didn’t feel nearly as hard as this week did for me. It’s amazing how quickly and easily the fitness goes away and how slow and difficult the getting-back-into-shape process is.

The heart stuff is coming along too. Shortly after the ablation procedure I had lots of palpitations. While I do still get them, they aren’t as intense and they seem to coincide with stress. For some reason I always have them after I sit down in the driver’s seat of the car. Something about packing up three kids 4 and under and trying to get out the door on time stresses me out.

As for the ol’ bod, I haven’t even weighed myself this week. 3 months of fixating on the 14x number is wearing me down and I need a break from thinking about it. I need a week of denial. Thanks!

Feeling great after losing all the baby weight! Yeah, maybe fake-it-til-you-make-it doesn't work so well in this arena.
