Pepper’s Training Log 2/16/13

I'm an environmental consultant 9-5 and wannabe local elite runner every other hour of the day. Life is never boring and I trend toward the more outrageous side of life in and outside of running. Who says you can't be fast and ridiculous at the same time?

Tap Tap…is this thing on? Yeah I know it has been a VERY long time since I have posted or done a training log, but I can honestly say this is the first week I feel justified in posting a training log in a very long time. Let’s hope this is the start of an upswing in staying healthy and training again Salty Readers!

While I do not currently have any serious racing plans for the year I do have a bike race looming in March. I gave into peer pressure and I will be riding in the Barry Roubaix race up north in  Michigan in March (100 km of gravel, dirt, and sand on a CX bike), which means, unless I want to be utterly embarrassed there really was no excuse for me to not get focused on getting some cycling in on some sort of regular basis! I can’t say I am super pumped, but it does give me some reason to stop being so lazy! I have no idea how I will feel about being on my bike for such a long time in such a large race, but I will just be doing it for fun with absolutely no intent of doing anything but finishing. After about an hour on the bike I am usually over it so this will be a loooong day for me!

I’ve only managed to get outside on my bike twice in the last month or so (because I live in Ohio, I work 9-5, and it’s winter!) but I am committed to getting in some trainer/spinning time as well as some runs to hopefully show up to BR and not embarrass myself too badly. The foot (knock on wood) appears to be coming around and my left side seems to be getting less cranky with each week so it’s time to bring on the base building and start to build some sort of fitness again.

Monday- Lunch run with the guys, first run with them in a long time I didn’t feel like I was racing. About 70 minutes

PM- 45 minute spin followed by 45 minute yoga class

Tuesday- 60 Minute spin

Wednesday- 55 minute lunch run easy

Thursday- Rest

Friday- 50 minute lunch run easy

Saturday- 2 hour trainer ride, 1800 yard swim

Sunday-70 minute run
