Happy 2013! I am excited about the things this year has in store. It was a little bit of a down week for me, mileage-wise, which worked out just fine with the holiday and re-adjusting to my work schedule. I had fun and embraced some new cross training… hopefully this good first week is an omen for the year ahead!
Monday – 5 miles at 8:40 pace. I ran with a new-ish running friend, and we brought our dogs along for the first 3. We’re hoping they become good running buddies!
Tuesday – First run of 2013! It was kind of blah and rainy. I did 6 miles at 9:15 overall pace. The goal was to negative split, which I did. And my BRF joined me for the last 3 miles, along with some post-run java… a nice way to kick off the year.
Wednesday – 1 hour yoga. Since I couldn’t find any classes that fit my schedule, I turned to the Web and followed a class I found on YouTube and then one from YogaDownload.com.
Thursday – My training plan called for a “fun workout” today, which means something out of the box and not just your regular cross training. Zumba didn’t work for my schedule on Thursday and No Way was I braving the gym within the first few days of January… so I borrowed a weighted hula hoop and worked on my core! It was hard, I looked silly… but it was also pretty fun! I searched online for some hula hoop workouts (since it’s kinda in right now), but they all assumed a certain base skill level that I did not possess. So instead I just tried to do as many circles in a row without it falling down!
Friday – 4 miles at 9:44 pace.
Saturday - I ventured out to meet a new running group since not many of my running pals are doing spring marathons, and I have been feeling in a rut with my long runs. Despite the early start (6:35) and the chilly temp (26 degrees Fahrenheit) , it was a good run! I did 15.2 miles at 9:38 pace.
Sunday – Rest
Total – 30.2 miles running, 1 hour yoga, 30 minutes hula hooping!
