The first week of the new year. A clean slate and a chance to put the last few months of inconsistent training behind me. I’m pleased to report that this week went really well. It kicked off with a New Years Day 5k that included its own ice bath:
And ended with a solid weekend run. I was supposed to get some more miles in this weekend, but Saturday and Sunday found me feeling like absolute crap, so I just swapped next weekend’s step-back schedule for this weekend’s long run. Problem solved.
This coming week will be challenging as my vacation is over and I’ll have to return to the world of super-early before-work weekday runs (and the associated painfully early alarm clock setting), but I feel like I’ve finally got my mojo back and will be able to adjust without a problem.
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: 5k with a Polar Bear Plunge into Lake Washington at the end
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: 4 miles
Friday: Step class
Saturday: Rest. Lots and lots of sleep rest.
Sunday: 4 miles
Total for the week: 11.1 miles

Wow, that Polar Bear Plunge looks hard core! I love everyone’s facial expressions in that pic.
