I'm a marathoner who is always training for the next race and hoping to qualify for Boston! I've lost over 120 pounds and was recently diagnosed with Celiac's disease - I run to live and live to run - join me on the gluten-free treadmill!

After two weeks off (and I mean OFF, no exercise at all), I was ready to get my run on this week! This week, I just focused on building my base so I’m ready to start my Windermere Marathon training in two weeks!

Sunday: 9 miles, easy treadmill running – felt pretty good, but some stomach issues

Monday: 60 minutes, elliptical plus arms strength training

Tuesday: 6 speed intervals, with a three mile warm-up and one mile cooldown. Three miles at night. I’m incorporating two-a-days to increase my mileage without increasing my chances of injury (or that’s the plan).

Wednesday: 30 minutes stairclimber, 30 minutes cycling. This was my “active recovery” day, and it was exhausting, even though it was supposed to be easy. Probably should have taken the day completely off.

Thursday: 9 miles total, 6 mile tempo run at a 7.0 pace, two mile warm-up, one mile cool down. Felt really strong.

Friday: Rest day. I’d planned on an active recovery day, but with a twelve hour work day the day before, I was beat and decided to take the day off.

Saturday: 12 miles, long run. Woke up with a bit of a head cold, but the run felt really good.

And now it’s time for another maintenance week before I start training for Windermere in earnest!
