The word of the week was strength. It involved strength runs, heavy lifting, and mental strength to make it through some work challenges. The fun won’t stop in the week ahead as I will be on call for work. I’m trying not to get nervous over it and hoping it goes as smooth as it can be.
The other strength stuff? Well, outside of work and running, James and I have been upping our ante on the house work. The unseasonably warm weather helps. I’m usually there on the weekends while he is there a few days during the week. We are learning a lot and have set a goal of making it move in ready by February. It’s a lofty goal as we have nearly gutted much of the house but like running, setting a goal gets your butt in gear.
As for the running? It’s been going quite well. And my lack of motivation a few weeks ago has seemed to help in the fact that I’m still slightly apathetic to it all. That doesn’t mean I don’t care about my running. It just means I’ve been able to turn my mind off a bit and just run without much thought.
Monday: 5.5 miles easy at night
Tuesday: 7 miles with track workout. 4 x 2000 with 2 minutes rest. I got to the track a little late because of work so the first repeat was just an extended warm up (7:30 pace). The next two were at 7:10 pace and the last one was at 6:58 pace. First time I negative split a repeat workout over 1600 meters!
Wednesday: Scheduled day off
Thursday: 10 miles with 6 tempo @ 7:50 pace. Tempos are getting more enjoyable and rewarding, not necessarily easy. Actually, they are enjoyable when you are done.
Friday: 3.5 easy and achy
Saturday: 12 miles with 5 x 30 second strides
Sunday: 12 miles around 8:30 pace after a night of celebrating the end of our fall training cycles!
Total: 50 miles
