Paprika’s Training Log 9/4/12

Crista has written 24 posts on Salty Running.

I'm currently a graduate student in Clinical Psychology (trying to earn that Ph.D!), freelance creative writer, aspiring ultrarunner, part-time Vegan (and part-time In & Out and Sushi lover), acoustic guitar player and crafter of cute things (like crocheted owls). I like to tackle life head on. I like to learn. And I'm not afraid to make mistakes.

“Let It Be” has been my mantra this week. I drew this owl a while back, but it always makes me smile :)

Ello, Salties!

The weeks have been flying by lately. I can’t believe I’ve already been back from Austin for a week and starting school in TWO DAYS. I’m pretty anxious about it– working full time as a waitress, training for an ultra, and working on my Master’s thesis. I don’t know where time seems to be these days, it’s sure alluding me! Waitressing has definitely made training challenging– I spend so much time on my feet these days that I swear the pads of my feet are bruised!

As far as training goes, I’ll say it outright– I made no goals for this week other than simply getting out there (if I could fit it into my schedule). This is, more or less, how the week went:

Monday- Got back from Austin, no running for me!

Tues- Two mile trail hike through the hills in Ventura.

Wed- Work :)

Thurs- Two mile trail hike.

Fri- Off (worked  a six hour shift).

Sat- Off (worked a SEVEN hour shift).

Sun- Ran six miles, felt SO GOOOOOD.

I feel like once school starts, my schedule will start being more straightforward and I’ll settle in a bit. Crossing my fingers!
