Happy Monday, Salties!
As I write this I feel a little out of my element– I just got home from a week of visiting a friend in Austin, Texas. It was an amazing trip, I absolutely love that city! I brought my running stuff, but put no pressure on myself to force a run if it didn’t work with our schedule. We had a lot of physical activities planned so I knew I’d be moving around a lot at least :)
Monday- Arrived in Austin in the early morning. Didn’t get much done today other than eating some delicious food and enjoying celebratory margaritas!
Tuesday- This day we hiked to the Hamilton Pool Preserve. It’s a natural grotto with a 50 foot pool of emerald green water. It was one of the coolest natural structures I’d ever seen.
Wednesday- Went hiking in the Barton Creek Green Belt. Wore my Luna Sandals and new running skirt!
Thursday- Did yoga for an hour. It’s been a long time, I was rusty! But felt good after.
Friday- Went kayaking! SO MUCH FUN!! My friend Laura and I kayaked on Austin’s local river (which is dammed, so technically it’s a lake).
Saturday- Ok, this day was important for one big reason: I went to a sample sale. Meaning, I went to a huge warehouse filled with highly discounted clothing. Cute clothing. After wandering around for an hour in a daze (it was almost too much to take in) I stumbled upon a sporting goods booth.
Remember last week when I wrote about saving money? Well this was my prime opportunity! I got a new Salomon hydration vest and running jacket for twenty dollars each! It ended up being EIGHTY PERCENT off. I could hardly breathe. If I wasn’t so poor I would have bought everything in sight!
Sunday- In the morning, my friend Laura and I went stand up paddleboarding! I’d never been before and it was way harder than I thought it would be! I was so nervous about falling in! But in the end I got the hang of it, and had a great time!
After we decided to do a little shopping and hit up Buffalo Exchange (trendy thrift store). I wander over to the shoe section and discover a pair of running shoes. And not just any running shoes. The exact style that I was about to order online, in my exact size. They were only thirty six dollars (online they are selling for $120). They were never even worn.
It was my lucky day!
It’s been a great week, Salties. I am exhausted now and hitting the hay :) Looking forward to a great week up ahead and getting back into a routine! I start my last year of my Master’s degree next Wednesday. Got a lot of stuff to do between now and then!
xo
