I'm trying to become a faster runner and learning a lot about myself in the process! When I'm not running or blogging, I am a licensed professional counselor for children and families in their homes and communities.

This is what a frazzled week looks like.

A week of quality and quantity. I haven’t had one of those in a long time. On top of that, work was very busy. Compared to last week, where I spent much of my time on the couch, I did a 180. On Sunday, I biked with James during the Johnnycake Jog. It wasn’t a great race for him. As a bike pacer, not all runs or races are going to be perfect. Even though I was pedaling to his running paces, I could still feel the pain and discomfort as his body broke down. Thankfully, we both recovered after what turned out to be an emotionally draining day. For me, I was freaking out about going back to work but after my first appointment on Monday, I fell back into the groove.

The rest of the week featured a track workout and a long, messy tempo. I say messy because I was all over the place. In the end, I was glad to get it out of my system. I have a feeling the next few weeks are still going to be a little haphazard pace wise as I get back into my previous shape. But 40 for the week is a good start!

A parting gift from a family made me smile.

Sunday: 5 miles, 3.5 at Johnnycake Jog and 1.5 at night

Monday: 5 miles at night

Tuesday: 7 miles with track workout (6 x 300, 8 x 200 with 200 jogs in between each rep. 7:30 down to 6:15 pace for the last few 200s)

Wednesday: 4 miles mid-day with rain cooling us off at the end.

Thursday: 9 miles with a 7:30 mile thrown in there but 8:15s felt more tempo. The 7:30 felt like 5k race pace. Yikes.

Friday: 4 miles easy

Saturday: 6 miles trail

Total: 40 miles
