First pain-free week in a long time! The week started with some fun at the Blossom Time 5.25 mile run in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. I started out with Salty and then finished the run with the always fun, Beth. We snapped this picture right before finishing our little jog, both coming off some annoying left foot problems. We got faster as the hilly run went on so I am happy with that. I’ll be slow for a while but it’s better than not running at all!
I ran six out of the seven days, with a precautionary swim on Thursday. My foot pretty much felt pain free by the middle of the week. I was trying out the Berry line of SuperFeet insoles but took them out a few days ago because something just didn’t feel right. I’m now training exclusively in the Brooks Pureflow sans insoles. I also had a little fun jumping in on a few of James’s workouts. On Tuesday, I randomly jumped in with him on a 400 repeat, thinking I could hold a 76. Well, after 150 meters, I faded. But I was happy with my 84 second 400! On Friday night, I tried running a lap with him again on his tempo run. I struggled to hold 6:20 pace, took a break, then got my kiddy-like heart back into the game and forced myself to hang with him for one more lap. And I did! I kind of like this impromptu-run-myself-into-the-ground-for-one-lap approach. Maybe if I run one 80-90 second lap a day, I will be able to run a 6:00 mile by the fall?
